Throw Ladder

Maple Dowel Ladder, handmade in Toronto

I enjoy working with dowels, the cylindrical form presents a particular challenge of precision.

The ladders have become an exercise in accepting and celebrating little imperfection. The wood moves and in the end no two ladders are the same; they are each their own work of art.

Hand sanded to a buttery smoothness, they are stained and sealed neutrally to allow the natural beauty of the wood to be fully present. Lastly the feet are plasti dip to prevent scuffing and sliding.
